Event Details:
We will be hosting a Security Officer Interview Event for NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island on Sunday, January 25th from 10:00am-2:00pm, where you will have the opportunity to meet with hiring leaders in person. RSVP is not necessary, however, only candidates with an active NYS Security Guard license will be considered.
Positions available are full-time, with rotating schedules. Schedules will be 12am-8am, 8am-4pm, 4pm-12am; Sunday - Saturday, including holidays. Must be able to work all shifts and schedules.
Candidates should bring their resume and all applicable licenses/certifications. (This includes a valid NYS Security Guard license.) In addition. as we anticipate the interview and offer process moving very quickly, candidates should also prepare for the following in the event they are selected as a final candidate:
- Expect to virtually interview with Talent Acquisition the week of January 26th
- Provide documentation of High School Diploma and/or GED (Transcripts will be required)
- Provide references (A minimum of five will be required but recommended to submit more than five)

Position Overview:
In this role, the successful candidate patrols hospital buildings and grounds; holds post on an assigned shift protecting patients, visitors, volunteers, employees, and property; responds to hospital emergencies and provide staff support on access control and special activities as required.
Job Responsibilities:
- Greets patients, visitors, and employees in a courteous manner, Identifying yourself, if requested, by name clearly and concisely
- Provides directions to visitors as needed, responding to inquiries politely and promptly
- Protects and safeguards various hospital properties and installations, as assigned, patrolling surrounding areas to ensure orderliness of environment (i.e. lock and/or open doors, secure restricted areas, check fire hoses, stairwells, etc. in accordance with established procedure)
- Operates and/or monitors various security systems (alarms, TV surveillance, etc.)
- Directs traffic and guards celebrities and police official ceremonies, and provides security escorts as directed, (i.e. safe corridor to parking garages)
- Observes visitors to hospital, answers questions, and investigates reported losses, suspicious and/or unusual situations in a courteous, efficient manner
- Escorts unruly or unauthorized personnel from hospital premises in a tactful and professional manner. May require restraining skills to appropriately subdue violators and/or emotionally disturbed individuals
- Prepares and submits appropriate incident reports to supervisor.
- Explains hospital security policies and procedures to visitors, staff, etc., as necessary
- Assists other departments in controlling visitor traffic as required
- Maintains hospital package control policy in accordance with established procedure
- Responds promptly to fire alarms and other emergencies using established communication system in accordance with established procedure
- Unlocks doors, directs immediate and affected population to a safe area, assists fire brigade or appropriate others in a timely and efficient manner
- Detains law violators and represents the hospital in legal cases as necessary. May drive hospital vehicles
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates must have:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current and valid NYS Security Guard License
- Current and valid Crisis Prevention/Intervention (CPI) certification (Must be obtained within 90 days of hire date)
- Current and valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification (Must be obtained within 90 days of hire date)
- Strong communication (both oral and written), interpersonal, and customer service skills.
Required Licenses:

- Security Guard Reg-NYS
Preferred Qualifications:
- College courses
- Current and valid NYS Drivers License
- Basic computer skills (including MS Office)

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is 67,630.65 - $83,983.64 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
