Preference will be given to candidates located in the Houston, TX or Lehi, UT areas who live within a reasonable commuting distance to an Avetta office and are open to a hybrid work schedule (3 days onsite, 2 days remote).

The Data Engineer will own and evolve our modern analytics engineering platform. This role is primarily responsible for DBT and Fivetran platform ownership, ensuring reliable, scalable, and well-governed data pipelines that power analytics and downstream use cases. As a senior team member, you will set technical standards, lead by example, and partner closely with analytics, the BI team and business stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Own theDBT and Fivetran platforms, including configuration, environment setup, access controls, and ongoing maintenance.
  • ManageDBT Cloud environments, including job configuration, scheduling, orchestration, and dependency management.
  • Configure and manageFivetran connectors, sync schedules, schemas, transformations, and performance tuning.
  • Build, operate, and optimizeend-to-end ELT pipelinesfrom source systems through Snowflake using Fivetran and DBT.
  • Design and maintainrobust orchestration patternsfor DBT runs, incremental models, and downstream dependencies.
  • Ensure pipelines are reliable, scalable, and cost-efficient.
  • Own and manage data platform infrastructure usingTerraform to create Snowflake resources.
  • Implement, maintainand own CI/CD pipelinesusingGitHub Actionsfor DBT deployments, testing, and environment promotion.
  • Implement and maintaindata quality solutions(e.g., freshness checks, anomaly detection).
  • Build and managemonitoring and observability solutionsfor pipelines, jobs, and data SLAs.
  • Define and trackplatform and data reliability metrics, alerting on failures, delays, or data issues.
  • OwnSnowflake administration, including warehouses, roles, permissions, resource monitoring, and cost optimization.
  • Tune performance for DBT models and queries through clustering, warehouse sizing, and query optimization.
  • Ensure security, governance, and best practices across Snowflake environments.


IDEAL EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & TRAINING:



  • 6 years of experience in data engineering or analytics engineering, with demonstrated senior-level ownership is preferred.
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Data Engineering, Computer Science, or related field is preferred.
  • Certifications in DBT (Advanced), Snowflake (SnowPro), GitHub Actions Certification, AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional is preferred.
  • Comfortable in supporting analytics-ready DBT models, including staging, intermediate, and mart layers.
  • Experience implementingdata observability or data quality frameworks.
  • Familiarity with modern metrics layers or semantic models.
  • Experience supporting analytics and BI.
  • Strong documentation and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Aptitude for Agile delivery (e.g., JIRA) and backlog management in cross-functional data teams.


At Avetta, we are committed to salary transparency to ensure equitable hiring practices and promote trust. The salary range included in this job posting is based on internal and market data and the role's responsibilities. The final compensation offered to a candidate will be determined by several factors, including work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

The salary range for this position is $140,000 - $165,000 per year, with a potential bonus.
