Application Window Open date: January 12, 2026 Next review date: Tuesday, Jan 27, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Wednesday, Feb 11, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description The Neuroscience Department at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for a Project Scientist at the Assistant or Associate rank in the Lammel Lab, in the area of neurobiology of motivated behavior. The Lammel lab uses a combination of molecular and system neuroscience tools to visualize, record and manipulate neural populations in order to understand their function and contribution to motivated behavior. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work in a vibrant and highly collaborative environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure. The successful candidate will utilize transgenic mouse models to characterize neuropeptide function in various brain regions using in vivo electrophysiology, in vivo fiber photometry and various manipulation methods including optogenetics to modulate neural activity during behavioral assays. The position will keep detailed records of experiments performed, conclusions made, and communication of results orally and through lab notebook records. In addition to advancing research projects in the lab, the position is expected to contribute to the authoring of grant proposals, manuscripts, and conference papers.
