Role

Responsible for supporting the organization's servers, workstations, clusters, storage systems, and peripherals. Oversees performance monitoring and ensures system and security issues are handled promptly. Keeps current with the latest systems administration and security trends to provide an efficient, performant, and secure environment. This high-level position is mainly self-directed and requires minimal day-to-day supervision.



Essential Functions & Responsibilities



  • Exemplifies the core values of CAMPUS while supporting our strategic priorities for members, employees, and community. Maintains the highest standard of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality
  • Leads the maintenance, configuration, security, and reliable operation of computer systems, servers, storage, virtualization, and Service Center equipment. Manages the planning, implementation, the testing of system security and system access
  • Serves as the highest escalation level for troubleshooting hardware and software errors. Mentors and leads other staff in diagnosing, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing the impact of issues
  • Establishes standards for monitoring the organization's systems for security vulnerabilities and proper operation. Ensures system issues are addressed in a timely manner. Responsible for leading incident resolution efforts that may require coordinating with vendors and other staff. Escalates issues to management when necessary
  • Leads the architecture and technology planning and design decisions. Makes recommendations to management
  • Oversees hardware and software maintenance at the company's disaster recovery site and provides technical support for disaster recovery testing
  • Assures prompt response to and recovery from systems and server-related production interruptions, across multiple hardware platforms, networks, and operating systems
  • Continuously grows professionally and obtains new skills through training, conferences, and certifications. Makes training recommendations to management to address skill gaps and new technology
  • Identifies opportunities to improve services to the company and its customers through the use of new products and technologies
  • Anticipates system and server security/integrity risks and assures adequate safeguards
  • Ensures network users, user environment, and directories are established, updated, and maintained regularly
  • Completes established goals within the prescribed timeframe
  • Mentors, trains, and facilitates the work of less experienced staff while performing fewer hands-on tasks
  • Participates in the planning and execution of disaster recovery and business continuity plans
  • Serves as an on-call resource to troubleshoot network issues for a 24/7 operation
  • Manages 3rd party vendors for contract work

Qualifications

Education



  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration OR
  • A combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge to satisfactorily perform the essential job functions may be substituted



Experience



  • 4 - 7 years of similar or related experience
