Building on our past. Ready for the future

Worley is a global professional services company of energy, chemicals and resources experts. We partner with customers to deliver projects and create value over the life of their assets. We're bridging two worlds, moving towards more sustainable energy sources, while helping to provide the energy, chemicals and resources needed now.

Purpose of the role
Play an integral role in bringing designs to life by providing hands-on engineering expertise during the construction phase of projects. As a Field Engineer III, you will be a trusted technical presence on site-interpreting designs, resolving constructability challenges, and ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in full alignment with approved specifications. Your experience and judgment will help bridge engineering intent with real-world site conditions, ensuring quality outcomes for our clients and communities.

Core Responsibilities
You will be responsible for providing construction site engineering support across assigned projects, with a strong focus on technical accuracy, collaboration, and problem-solving. Key responsibilities include:

  • Interpreting engineering designs, drawings, and specifications, and adjusting designs as needed to suit site conditions while maintaining design intent.

  • Providing on-site technical guidance to construction and commissioning teams to ensure work aligns with approved plans, codes, and standards.

  • Overseeing and supporting construction supervision activities, including monitoring progress, quality, and adherence to safety and environmental requirements.

  • Reviewing and approving completed construction tasks, confirming that work conforms to design specifications and project requirements.

  • Making independent technical decisions for defined scopes of work or smaller projects, with consideration for financial, social, and environmental impacts.

  • Escalating complex, unusual, or high-risk issues to senior engineers or project leadership when appropriate.

  • Assisting with troubleshooting field issues related to systems, processes, tools, and equipment, and supporting continuous improvement in field execution.

  • Communicating clearly and effectively with site teams, engineering disciplines, contractors, and clients through reports, presentations, and day-to-day interactions.

  • Providing technical guidance to junior staff or small groups working on common project scopes, supporting capability development and knowledge sharing.

What you'll bring to the role
You will bring advanced technical knowledge and practical field experience, along with a collaborative mindset and a strong commitment to safety and quality. We're looking for:

  • A university degree in engineering or a related discipline, or an equivalent trade qualification combined with additional relevant training and experience.

  • Typically 5+ years of relevant experience with a university degree, or 10+ years of experience with a trade qualification, in construction, field engineering, or commissioning environments.

  • Advanced knowledge and depth of expertise within a field engineering or commissioning discipline, with mastery in one or more specialty areas, systems, or products.

  • The ability to work with minimal day-to-day supervision, using sound technical judgment to plan and execute assigned work.

  • Strong decision-making skills, with the confidence to make independent technical recommendations while knowing when to seek senior input.

  • A solid understanding of field-related systems, processes, and tools, with the ability to assist others and troubleshoot issues as they arise.

  • Clear and persuasive communication skills, with experience contributing to proposals, technical reports, and presentations.

  • A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach, with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines and cultures.
