Position Summary

The University of Illinois Chicago, Department of Neurosurgery seeks a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate.

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join an exciting translational research project. This project focuses on the identification and validation of genetic markers associated with neurological conditions in clinical samples, with the aim of driving advances in precision diagnostics.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory experiments including DNA extraction, gel electrophoresis, PCR, and tissue culture.
  • Analyze and interpret genetic data to identify markers relevant to neurological disorders.
  • Maintain meticulous laboratory records and ensure data integrity.
  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams at UIC and PERME, contributing to both fundamental research and its translational applications.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


  • Minimum Qualifications

    • PhD
    • Strong background in molecular biology and genetics.
    • Hands-on experience with: DNA extraction, Gel electrophoresis, PCR, Tissue culture techniques
    • Excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills.


    Preferred Qualifications
    • Background in neuroscience.
    • Experience in bioinformatics or computational analysis of genetic data.
    • Familiarity with human subjects research protocols.
