About the Department and/or College The National Wind Institute (NWI) has evolved from its traditional singular focus on wind hazards to three main research pillars of Energy Systems, Atmospheric Measurement & Simulation, and Wind Engineering. Though all three of these pillars focus on distinct issues, they also maintain common ground via cross cutting themes. Design, implementation and maintenance of custom data products and tools Interactions with project partners and user groups Research and dissemination Close collaboration with several State of Texas and National Weather Service partners involving occasional travel to work closely with those entities. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent communication abilities to collaborate with non-technical audiences, such as policymakers or responders, to present and develop custom user-focused data products and tools Works well within a team environment Required Qualifications Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences, Engineering, or Computer Sciences. Demonstrated record of effectiveness as a researcher. Should have a record of activity which has contributed to the discipline or field of research. Preferred Qualifications Experience handling observational weather data from systems like surface weather stations and weather radars Expertise in visualization and mapping tools (such as ArcGIS) tailored to high-impact weather scenarios Safety Information Adherence to robust safety practices and compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations are responsibilities of all TTU employees. Travel Required Up to 25% Shift Day Schedule Details M - F; 7:00 - 4:00: Overtime as needed for job functions Grant Funded?
