About the Opportunity: As Program Manager you will serve as the face of the organization to customers and manage various program value streams including holding accountability for that value stream's P&L. In this role, you will oversee program life cycle including pursuit, order capture, implementation, and support phases of a variety of small-to-mid scale programs. You will manage and report out program performance including financial management, contract execution, and technical implementation, as well as be the voice of the customer, ensuring proper methods are followed to track program cost, schedule, and contract compliance. It is critical you can balance priorities and optimize program performance. This position requires both technical acumen and leadership, as you navigate challenges, mitigate risks, and drive the successful delivery of mission-critical systems. Responsibilities:
- Ensure the execution of the program (including changes) to comply with all the business case and contractual requirements for their products.
- Continuously monitor program execution including tracking all program cost, schedules and performance and reporting progress against program milestones and life cycle gates with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Create, implement, and advocate program improvement plans including but not limited to those related to affordability, pricing, continuous improvement, Zero Defects Manufacturing, and engineering design initiatives.
- Oversee change and manage growth on the program, executing Bids and Proposals activities to coordinate cost budget, schedule and technical compliance to meet the requirements of the customer. Ensure contract negotiation aligns to approved business case, statement of work and requirements.
- Define the vision, strategy, and budget for the program to deliver sales, profit, margin, inventory, quality, delivery and cash received in accordance with annual operating plans.
- Serve as the voice of the customer; establish and maintain constructive, collaborative, and teaming environment with the customer community.
- Identify and manage project Risks, Issues and Opportunities to closure in partnership with functional leads and Program Managers.
- Relentlessly drive on-time execution both internally and at suppliers, finding creative ways to pull in delivery timing.
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders, providing updates on project milestones, risks, and issues.
- Prepare and present project reports, status updates, and performance metrics to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
- Identify areas of improvement or gaps in current processes and develop strategies to promote efficiency and productivity.
- Compare actual performance against planned performance to identify variances and help manage tasks on the Critical Path.
- Provide guidance and best practices across the organization for planning and scheduling processes, procedures, tools and systems.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, chemical, or aerospace preferred), Operations Management, Finance, or Business - OR - in lieu of degree, 8 years of experience in manufacturing or aerospace
- 5 years of program management and/or aerospace leadership, either military or industry.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.
- Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within the aviation industry such as OEMs, airlines, suppliers, & aviation community of interest
- Experience with managing a P&L, driving value stream strategy for business growth and customer satisfaction.
- Leadership and team building skills to include fostering collaborative and positive cultures, formal and informal influencing skills, and team empowerment and motivation expertise
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, interpersonal and influencing skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with little supervision.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Working Conditions
- Must be able to have prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
- Personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses and safety shoes) is required on the shop floor
- Occasional weekend and evening work may be required to accommodate priorities, deadlines, and schedules.
