Qualifications

Position Summary

The Director of Business Development oversees the provision of Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service activities within the Business Development Department and representatives. The Director of Business Development is responsible for achieving the desired utilization of the organization's continuum of care through the effective application of marketing/sales principles and methods. The Director of Business Development is responsible for implementing the facility's strategic marketing plan, enhancing the facility's brand/image, coordination of all sales and business development activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strategically analyzes and designates target markets for Business Development Representatives and territory/account assignments, taking into account the strengths and weaknesses of each Business Development Representative. Insures that expertise and personal styles of team members are insightfully matched to prospective referral sources.
  • Provides short- and long-term market forecasts and reports by directing market research collection, analysis and, interpretation of market data.
  • Leads and oversees the development and growth of profitable new business opportunities. Develops and implements marketing strategies to assist the facility in meeting business objectives.
  • Monitors the performance of each Business Development Representative against departmental goals. Assists Business Development Representatives in developing individual sales plans, territory management and routing schedules.
  • Acts as a resource to Business Development team members and department managers.
  • Accompanies each Business Development Representative on a minimum of a quarterly basis, or more often as needs arise, to assess selling techniques, document outcomes, provide constructive feedback, retrain and redirect, as needed. Develops Performance Improvement Plans as-needed.
  • Holds regularly-scheduled, agenda-driven sales meetings that are responsive in content to Business Development Representative's needs; invites other appropriate staff to serve as resources.
  • Regularly analyzes results of referral development calls, evaluates and prioritizes referral targets and, modifies strategies as needed.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors the quarterly strategic plan and updates periodically to evaluate goals to plan.
  • Develops and provides BD-specific training and ensures that BD Reps are onboarded and trained in accordance with UHS, FRN and/or Michael's House requirements, including continuous training via HealthStream and in-person or by webinar or phone.

Licensure/Certification: Must possess a valid Driver's License

Travel: Able to Travel on short notice and when necessary execute trips that may be in excess of 4 nights a week away from home, including on occasion some weekends. Maximizes the use of other forms of communications (phone, email, correspondence, etc.) to minimize the use of resources and money associated with travel. When applicable, uses discount airline travel and refrains from using hotel and rental car vendors not approved by supervisor. Is knowledgeable of the company's policy on travel and entertainment expenses and expenses are reflected according to policy.

Expenses: Must have a personal credit card to purchase travel and misc. expenses incurred during the course of performing assigned duties. Accurately completes expense reports in a timely manner for reimbursement of all expenses approved by supervisor.

Knowledge: Prefer knowledge of the Eastern Coast behavioral health and addiction treatment marketplace, insurance plans, target markets and referral sources, psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment and, age/condition-specific programming. Must possess demonstrated superior leadership abilities and excellent written and oral communication skills; knowledge of and skills in application of marketing principles including product, placement, pricing and promotion as well as management of sales, advertising, social media, online presence and, public relations resources; creativity and flexibility; skills in data collection and analysis, interpretation, application and, evaluation; strategic planning skills; record of adherence to deadlines; customer service skills; teaching or training skills; willingness to travel, including overnight travel as required.

Qualifications

High School diploma and or a GED is required.

Bachelor's degree in marketing, business or related field preferred. Masters of Business Administration or related field preferred.

A combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu to meeting the educational requirements.
