Overview
The VP Payer Strategy's responsibilities will align along four focused areas: (1.) improving patient access and reimbursement of Myriad's portfolio of products (2.) publication strategy and execution that support product reimbursement; (3.) medical support of the managed care and marketing teams who create content for payers, and (4.) bringing the voice of the payer customer back to Myriad.
Responsibility
- Identify and develop patient access strategy and research opportunities for US payers and key accounts ensuring alignment and inclusion of intended use.
- Deliver clinical, scientific, and health economic data to healthcare decision makers responsible for making medical policy and/or coverage decisions at health insurance companies, behavioral health companies, and/or employee benefit brokers.
- Collaborate with marketing to develop payer messaging and value proposition resources.
- Identify and communicate data gaps and work collaboratively with research teams to actively address evidence needs throughout product lifecycles. Providing strategic input into publication strategy.
- Provide medical leadership in the development of clinical utility evidence to support private and public payer reimbursement.
- Participate in development of payer reimbursement strategy across the portfolio of Myriad products.
- Support Revenue Cycle Department in payer discussions surrounding utilization management and the impact to patient access and clinical care.
- Identify and develop proposals for value-based contracting approaches with key payer stakeholders.
- Partner with Payer Markets Team to enhance the market position and reputation of Myriad within the physical and behavioral health insurance industry.
- Represent Myriad at the medical professional organization level, including key payer professional meetings.
Qualifications
- Meets minimum education and experience requirements:
- Bachelors Degree required, Masters Degree preferred
- At least 10 years of experience in the health insurance industry.
- Previous experience in precision medicine or diagnostic industry preferred.
- Essential Skills:
- Ability to present and negotiate with executives at payer organizations.
- Extensive knowledge of the US healthcare ecosystem, payer landscape, and payer evidence requirements.
- Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work cross-functionally throughout the company.
- Collaborative and strong leadership qualities; ability to build consensus.
- Demonstrated experience in clinical utility and outcomes-based research.
- Excellent strategic thinking skills, with demonstrated ability to successfully lead the ideation, development of a plan and move to action.
- Exceptional communicator, including both written and verbal skills, with ability to communicate on behalf of all company matters clearly and thoroughly.
Physical Requirements Lifting Requirements - sedentary work or exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally. Physical Requirements - stationary positioning, moving, communicating, and observing. Use of equipment and tools that are necessary to perform essential functions of the job.
