Posting Summary
Rutgers School of Public Health ( SPH) is seeking a Grants Coordinator in the Office of Research located in Piscataway, NJ. The Grants Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day support of all projects, grants, contracts and other restricted accounts and related functions associated with research, sponsored programs, and restricted funds activities for the School as assigned. This position ensures sponsored research activities are in compliance with the policies and procedures of Rutgers University and federal, state, foundation, corporate and other agencies.

Duties include:

  • Coordinates pre-award administration of grants, contracts and other restricted funds for the School of Public Health.
  • Submits grant and contract proposals on behalf of investigators and the School to federal, state, foundation, corporate and other sponsors.
  • Provides grant application guidance to faculty, administrators and staff.
  • Prepares grant proposal budgets in collaboration with the Principal Investigators (PIs).
  • Works closely with the Office for Research-Research and Sponsored Programs, Research Contract Services, and Research Financial Services, and other units-to ensure applications, Project Accounts, and other related components are processed in a timely manner.
  • Assists PIs with ongoing tracking and maintenance of grant submission documents including but not limited to bio-sketches and other supporting documents to ensure all documents are updated, compliant, and aligned with NationalInstitute of Health (NIH) guidelines

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Health or a related field
  • Three (3) years of experience involving research and sponsored programs administration in an academic environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of proposal development, finding funding, Institutional Review Board regulations and other grant-related activities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer programs, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and superb analytical skills
  • Outstanding human relations skills
  • Demonstrated ability to function in a team environment
  • Valid drivers license andpossess a vehicle for travel between campuses

Preferred Qualifications
  • Six (6) years of experience involving research and sponsored programs administration in an academic environment
