Job Description

The Executive Director for Advancement Services is a strategic leader responsible for driving the success of Missouri S&T's fundraising and engagement efforts through data-driven insights, fiscal stewardship, and innovative technology solutions. This role oversees critical functions including IT systems, database security, campaign accounting, gift processing, and strategic reporting. As an integral member of the University Advancement leadership team, the Executive Director ensures operational excellence, guides financial management, and delivers actionable strategies that support philanthropic growth and institutional priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Strategy and Analysis: Provide strategic analysis and develop qualitative and quantitative reports on data trends impacting fundraising. Ensure accuracy and security of multiple databases and deliver real-time insights to guide leadership decisions. Recommend donor segmentation strategies, with a particular focus on Annual Giving.
Information Technology Oversight: Serve as the division's primary resource for IT-related activities, including database management, security, and external software platforms. Develop and produce reports from various databases using programming code or queries. Supervise programming staff and act as liaison to campus IT and UM System on advancement-related technology needs.
Campaign and Fundraising Support: Oversee campaign accounting, gift processing, and strategic fundraising reporting for internal and external stakeholders. Develop strategies based on data trends to support annual giving initiatives, including phonathon and direct mail campaigns.
Fiscal Leadership: Serve as the division's chief fiscal officer. Oversee and administer all financial operations for University Advancement, ensuring compliance with applicable policies and standards. Provide guidance on gift acceptance, GASB requirements, and campus fiscal accounting practices.
Team Leadership: Supervise professional and managerial staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Manage multiple projects across divisional lines that impact fundraising effectiveness, donor relations, and campus fiscal accounting.
Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned to support the mission and goals of University Advancement.
Shift

Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 6 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related discipline with a strong emphasis in fiscal management
  • Minimum of six years of demonstrated success in accounting, business management, finance, or related fields
  • Proven ability to build strong financial partnerships across campus and within the University of Missouri System
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and self-direct day-to-day operations is necessary
  • Experience working with non-profit organizations in higher education is highly desirable
Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $80,143 - $122,492 annually.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
