2026 Summer Internship Summary: The Offices of Government Relations works with policy decision-makers at the local, state, and national levels to uphold the hospital's mission of providing exceptional clinical care, research, and training for pediatric providers. We work with our partners within the legislature, across payors, and throughout the community to develop and advocate for policy solutions to keep young people safe and healthy. The internship schedule will be 32 hours per week during normal business hours, Monday-Thursday. This internship is a hybrid format, with the *requirement for the intern to be in-person at least* one day a week (min of 5 hours). Tuesdays are highly recommended and strongly preferred for in-person attendance. The summer internship will run from May 2026 to August 2026. Exact start and end dates are flexible. Responsibilities: Conducting market research on public policy topics by undertaking independent review of public data from sources including the Division of Insurance (DOI) and the Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) Researching public policy topics, including conducting literature reviews on health policy, public health, and behavioral health. Summarizing findings and developing briefing memos for internal and external audiences Updating and monitoring centralized departmental resources for accuracy and generating relevant reports for a variety of audiences. Platforms include legislative tracking/customer relationship management (CRM) software, Zotero, MS Planner, and other institutional resources Collaborating with team members to complete special projects rooted in relevant data sources and across a wide range of health policy topics specific to child health and well-being Creating infographics to visually demonstrate and document departmental processes Attending relevant coalition, legislative, and community meetings Education and Requirements:** Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program within the 2026 calendar year Demonstrated interest in and passion for child health policy and government advocacy in addition to experience with data analysis Preferred attributes include: Experience with data analysis Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing, research, and time management skills Ability to work well in teams and independently This opportunity is best suited for students pursuing studies in the fields listed below, but students from other disciplines are encouraged to apply as well: Health Management/Health Administration Business Development Public Health Political Science Communications Public Policy The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting. Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
