Job Status: Fulltime - 80 hours per pay period
Shift: Monday - Friday (6:30am - 3pm)
Duties & Responsibilities
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.
- Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or surgical technician (ST), assists in preparing the operating room (OR) for surgical procedures by setting up rooms per procedure preference cards.
- Works closely with co-workers to ensure availability of needed equipment, instruments, OR beds, and stretchers.
- Transports and delivers items, such as equipment, medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs), and specimens throughout the facility.
- Performs low-level disinfection of equipment.
- Assists with transporting patients to the OR holding area, assists with lifting, positioning, and/or transferring patients as indicated.
- Assists with timely turnover of rooms including cleaning room, removing trash and linen, and removing equipment from room.
- Processes post-surgery case carts when needed, including discarding sharps, emptying suction cannisters, disseminating unused supplies, and sending carts to the Sterile Processing Department.
