A Research Laboratory Technician position is available to work on translational cancer research. Primary responsibilities include collection of and accurate recording of procedures and results, maintenance of databases used in the lab, ordering necessary reagents to conduct experiments, and participation in joint upkeep of the lab.
The successful candidate will work in a DFHCC histology core and interact with various scientists that require help with histology or immunohistochemistry for their project. The applicant will optimize antibodies and perform immunohistochemical stains as required on human and animal models. In addition, the candidate will perform other standard histological techniques and tissue-based analyses such as processing, embedding, microtomy and cryostat frozen sections and will teach DFHCC clients use of the cryostat. The candidate will interact with the DFHCC core director regularly for planning, updating and help with technical or administrative issues. Experience is helpful but not required.

Education
Associate's Degree Related Field of Study required

Experience
Prior laboratory experience, either through academic coursework, internships, or employment 1-2 years preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures.
- Familiarity with common laboratory equipment and instruments used in research experiments.
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and scientific software tools.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey experimental procedures, results, and challenges.
