Summary
Responsible for preparing tissue specimens by treating with chemicals, slicing, and mounting on glass slides for microscopic examination and analysis. Does this position require Patient Care? No Essential Functions Performs specimen collection, accessioning, and logging routines. Assists pathologists with tissue grossing procedures. Processes, embeds, and sections tissues for slides. Performs preventive maintenance and quality-control procedures, including oiling and cleaning microtomes according to schedule, recording temperatures on various instruments, changing processors per procedure, and replacing staining solutions. Ensures aseptic techniques and follows health and safety protocols during cleanup procedures to minimize risk to self and co-workers. Observes hospital and laboratory policies and safety practices and maintains a safe, clean, and prepared work area. Education Physical Requirements
