ABOUT THE JOB

The Accounting Manager leads a team of accounting, invoicing and cash applications team members. The Accounting Manager has areas of responsibility over preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, general ledger maintenance, invoicing customers, applying cash received, internal accounting, financial reporting, SEC reporting, audit support, and routine and non-routine accounting transactions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Account Reconciliations and Journal Entries: Prepare recurring and non-recurring journal entries for more complex transactions. Review journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by team members for completeness and accuracy.
  • General Ledger Maintenance: Maintaining the Company's Chart of Accounts in JDE including setup of object accounts.
  • Invoicing: Ensure invoices, credits, customer portal entries and sales adjustments are processed timely and accurately. Monitor email logs and EDI transmissions to ensure successful invoice delivery to customers. Reconcile the accounts receivable month-end balance to accounts receivable aging reports.
  • Cash Applications: Ensure customer payments are applied to customer accounts and non-customer payments are applied to general ledger accounts timely and accurately. Ensure lockbox totals reconcile to payments received and posted. Lead the customer refund process.
  • Internal Financial Reporting and Accounting: Assist in the preparation and review of timely financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX).
  • SEC reporting: Assist in the preparation of external reporting, including Form 10Q, 10K and 8K.
  • Audit: Assist with internal and external financial and SOX audits.
  • Financial Control Policies and Procedures: Comply with financial control policies and procedures, GAAP, and SOX requirements.
  • Process Improvements: Model a focus on continuous improvement, ensuring processes and procedures are reviewed regularly for effectiveness and efficiency. Utilize key metrics to assess process improvement opportunities, workload, and progress toward goals.
  • Talent Development: Lead the team in setting and achieving team and personal goals, provide regular coaching and feedback, ensure team is cross-trained on key tasks, and perform periodic reviews of team members.
  • Non-routine Activities: Assist the finance department in onboarding acquired companies and other analytical projects as needed.
  • Sarbanes Oxley Control Owner: Ensure Sarbanes Oxley controls related to areas of responsibility are documented, changes are communicated, and controls are followed.


    ABOUT YOU:



    • BA Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
    • 5+ years of progressive increased responsibilities at a publicly traded company or experience at a public accounting firm.
    • Supervisory experience required.
    • Experience working with internal and external audit firms, GAAP and SOX controls.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop effective teams that deliver results, foster cross-functional working relationships, analyze complex issues, recommend solutions and balance multiple priorities, while meeting deadlines.
    • ERP system accounting experience preferred (utilize Oracle JDEdwards)
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.


      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

      While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near and far vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

      TRAVEL

      Minimal travel required.

      Expected Compensation: $120,000-$130,000 + 15% Bonus Eligibility
