Position Summary
The primary function of the mechanic is to ensures a vehicle operates at maximum efficiency. The mechanic must have knowledge of mechanics, computerized automotive systems, and the mechanical profiles and specifications of a variety of automobile and equipment makes, models, and years. He or she also needs an understanding of computerized repair and testing systems and must have exceptional eye-hand coordination, physical stamina, and skill with tools. The mechanic applies all of their knowledge and talent in several broad areas of responsibility including troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and service to operating staff members.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Inspect belts, hoses, and mechanical systems to ensure all components are operating properly

  • Responsible for lubrication, light service, electrical work, and preventive maintenance service

  • Perform and validate equipment inspections to ensure safe operations and handling

  • Ensure all heavy-duty repairs are referred to the designated Repair Service Company

  • Keep records of repairs performed and report to Assistant

  • Work on a variety of makes, models, and equipment

  • Complete work and repair orders in a timely fashion

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Minimum of two years of mechanic experience with diesel equipment, heavy construction equipment, or specialty line equipment (such as large-scale generators, pumps, HVAC, or oil and gas equipment) strongly preferred

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills

  • Ability to handle physical workload

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to position self to constantly stand, bend, turn, squat, and use hands approximately 80% of the time

  • Occasionally work indoors and outdoors as required by the job

  • Must have sufficient arm strength to effectively use hand tools such as hammers and wrenches

  • Frequently move mechanical equipment weighing over 50 pounds

  • Must be able to communicate with team members and management and exchange accurate information

  • Must be able to problem solve and prioritize tasks

  • Must be able to manage stress depending on tasks

  • Must be able to multitask

  • Must be able to receive and analyze information

  • Must be able to quickly communicate solutions if problems occur

The base salary for this position typically falls within the range of $29.95 to $38.89 per hour. Starting wage may vary based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the position being offered, location, education, training, and/or experience. SRS Distribution offers additional competitive and non-financial benefits. Hourly associates may be eligible for overtime based on business needs. Depending on the role, associates may also be eligible for performance-based bonus programs, or commissions.
