Duties & Responsibilities: Using business process engineering techniques, develops technical solutions and management processes to achieve overall objectives by means of implementing systems or enterprise-wide solutions, using the company's or a third-party's hardware/software product. Develops and recommends solutions and strategies, based on the analysis of customer business goals, objectives, needs, and existing systems infrastructure. Participates in solution proposal presentations in addition to completing ongoing team account activities. Identifies additional product/services opportunities in customer organization. The business consultant plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap in product readiness between Itron and the utility. They facilitate customer change requests, collaborate with internal stakeholders, and contribute to the development of potential implementation roadmaps. In general, customers view this employee as a consultant. Provides consultatory services that help our clients develop system requirements, operational use cases, and solutions. This includes but is not limited to business process integration, validation and benefit realization to enable customers to seamlessly deploy distributed intelligence technology for grid modernization. Power Systems Knowledge: A strong understanding of power systems, including transmission, substation, distribution, and generation, is essential. Knowledge of grid infrastructure and electrical components is crucial for effective modernization efforts. Automated Meter Infrastructure: A strong understanding of AMI, including basic meter operations and backhaul communication solutions. Analytical Skills: Proficiency in data analytics tools and techniques to extract meaningful insights from large datasets. Stakeholder Engagement: Effective communication with diverse stakeholders, including utility companies, government agencies, third party technology vendors, and the public. Collaboration skills to build consensus and drive collective efforts. Customer Engagement/Communication Strategies: Skills in developing customer engagement strategies, including educational campaigns and user-friendly interfaces. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience. Reliability Engineering Processes: When appropriate, collaborate directly with customers to design and implement tailored reliability engineering programs or processes, leveraging data provided by the DI Apps. Understand client challenges and articulate the value of transformation in terms of business outcomes. Continuous Learning: - Adaptability: Understanding of the need to stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and evolving best practices. Embracing a culture of continuous learning to adapt to a dynamic energy landscape. Work with utilities to integrate and implement real-time grid management systems like ADMS (Advance Distribution Management Systems), EMS, SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and DERMS (Demand Energy Response Management System). Champion people on your team to succeed professionally and personally. Foster trusted advisor relationships with clients from strategy to technology; from the C-Suite to the front line; for business and IT. Integrate business data to discover new insight and enable evidence-based business decisions
Required Skills & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent experience. 10+ years of experience in the electrical power delivery industry. Must have a strong command of the English language and possess good written and oral communication skills. Ability to work in design teams, is self-motivated to perform assigned tasks, and take the initiative to learn new topics. Prior work experience within or supporting Electric System Operations. Understanding of electric power generation and smart grid operations including systems and processes as well as safety rules, applicable codes, standards, and regulations affecting analysis, design, operations and maintenance of bulk power and distribution systems. Ability to analyze and interpret information, determine relevant facts, and makes decisions and recommendations accordingly. Understanding the challenges and opportunities associated with integrating microgenerators (solar, wind, battery storage, etc.) into the grid. Understanding of Electric Vehicle charging infrastructure: Knowledge of smart charging solutions as to the impacts on the grid. Understanding of network security protocols, encryption, and authorization to safeguard utility communications and networks from cyber threats. Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements related to grid operations and modernization efforts. Knowledge of regulatory frameworks influencing grid modernization efforts would be asset. Ability to analyze and interpret energy policies, regulations, and incentives at local, regional, and national levels. Foundational Knowledge of Utilities IT/OT Architecture Experience in designing and implementing training programs for personnel to adapt to new technologies, safety practices, and evolving grid management procedures would be asset. Leads and performs tasks associated with a critical or analytical grid modernization or a small number of complex projects that require specialized knowledge in many areas. Demonstrated Experience working on Pilot Projects from creation to completion. Demonstrated interpersonal and problem-solving skills, and excellent written and oral communication abilities. Experience with developing utility planning/program standards. Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, & Adobe)
California: The base salary range is $105,000 to $202,000. This position is eligible to participate in an annual bonus program. This position also includes a competitive benefit package including; financial, social, health and wellbeing programs, paid vacation, 401k matching, employee stock purchase program, hybrid work schedule, and more!
