What to Expect
As a Controls Technician, you will play a crucial role to support our production operations. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing automated equipment, PLCs, HMIs, and industrial networks to minimize downtime and ensure smooth operations.The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, supporting maintenance teams, and ensuring equipment reliability. Controls Technicians are the first-responding problem solvers who manage machine breakdown recoveries to keep production running.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose and repair PLC-controlled systems, HMIs, sensors, and other automation components to quickly restore production
- Strong Electrical background including understanding electrical wiring diagrams and troubleshooting electrical cabinets ranging from 24 VDC to 480 VAC 3 phase
- PLC/HMI programming and troubleshooting skills using different PLC/HMI platforms and programming styles
- Configure, tune, and maintain VFDs, servo drives, and motion systems as required
- Perform basic network troubleshooting (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, DeviceNet, Profibus) to restore communication between devices
- Work closely with Controls Engineers, Equipment Engineers, and Maintenance Technicians to resolve recurring issues and implement improvements
- Follow all LOTO, electrical safety, and company procedures when performing work on live systems
What You'll Bring
- 3-5 years of experience on process automation and/or electromechanical systems
- Ability to perform skilled termination of controls devices
- Working knowledge of low voltage electrical systems from 24VDC to 480VAC
- Ability to read and comprehend/interpret wiring diagrams, loop drawings, P&ID drawings,electrical prints, schematics, PLC code, andHMI screens
- Strong knowledge in troubleshooting of motor controls, variable frequency drives, programmable controllers and other electronic components
- Strong understanding of HVAC and process instrumentation (pressure, level, differential pressure, temperature and analytical).Strong understanding of controls valves, dampers, and associated actuators
- Must have command of English language, both written and verbal
Essential Physical Demands
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours/day, including over varied and uneven terrain
- Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 50 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
- Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install parts
- Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours/day
- Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
- Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: safety glasses, safety shoes, bump cap and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
