INTERNAL RECRUITMENT TO UC DAVIS SCHOOL OF MEDICINE ONLY. The Associate Dean role will include an additional $10,000 annual stipend. Application Window Open date: December 23, 2025 Next review date: Sunday, Feb 1, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Sunday, Feb 1, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description The Office for Health Equity by Design for Inclusive Excellence (HEDI) and the UC Davis School of Medicine Dean's Office are recruiting an internal candidate as the next Associate Dean for the Office of Medical Pathways. The Associate Dean of Medical Pathways is an essential member of the HEDI and School of Medicine's leadership teams, reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Health Equity by Design for Inclusive Excellence with dotted line reporting to the Vice Dean for Medical Education in the School of Medicine. The incumbent will have 60% effort in administrative responsibilities as Associate Dean of Medical Pathways, while maintaining 40% effort and responsibilities in research, clinical, and/or teaching duties as a full-time faculty member in an Academic series (Regular, In Residence, Clinical X, Health Sciences Clinical, or Adjunct Professor) at the high Assistant (step 4 and above), Associate or Full Professor level in the appropriate academic department in the UC Davis School of Medicine. The Associate Dean of Medical Pathways provides leadership to build an equitable and welcoming learning environment, by infusing belonging and inclusion efforts in all aspects of learner (student, resident, and fellows) experiences and attend to issues of intersectionality within and among learners. Success in this area includes identifying opportunities for interprofessional collaborations between learner groups in both the School of Medicine and School of Nursing that prepares them to provide high quality, culturally and linguistically relevant services for patients and communities. The Associate Dean of Medical Pathways functions as a collaborative colleague with the administrative leadership team of the Office of Medical Education and the School of Nursing Associate Dean for Inclusive Excellence. The Associate Dean of Medical Pathways provides leadership to a range of administrative, academic, and technical professionals in the Office of Medical Pathways who provide comprehensive student support services. The Associate Dean collaborates with faculty, students, trainees, and administration to promote a safe and inclusive learning environment for trainees, to instruct workshops and lectures that promote equity and inclusion in medical education, support timely response to emerging issues on behalf of trainees from disadvantaged backgrounds, and contribute to the recruitment efforts of applicants from disadvantaged backgrounds. The Associate Dean collaborates to advance medical pathways efforts by reinforcing our aspirational goals of equity in all aspects of education, science and healthcare. As an academic faculty member, responsibilities include clinical service, in applicable area of specialty; teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows; conducting and producing scholarly work, clinical/translational research; a record of peer-reviewed publications; success in obtaining extramural funding, as applicable; and University service. The candidate must have earned a terminal degree in a relevant field; be an active academic faculty member and in good standing or eligible for appointment in the UC Davis School of Medicine at the high Assistant (step 4 and above), Associate or Full Professor level; at least three years of experience in leading efforts that bring diverse communities together; administrative leadership experience at an academic institution; demonstrate commitment to cultural humility, experience with design and implementation of medical pathways; possess effective communication skills; and have the ability to represent the School of Medicine at the local, state, national, and international levels.
