Summary:

Provides psychiatric screening assessments for Emergency Department patients and via telemedicine. This includes but is not limited to risk assessment and referral to appropriate level of care, and assessment to determine need for inpatient detoxification.
Job duties include communication with all parties including ED provider and nursing staff, charge nurse, on-call psychiatrist, unit staff, collateral sources, registration department and insurance authorization personnel as needed to ensure patients are provided

Presbyterian Healthcare Services seeks a licensed LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC to join our team providing emergency department behavioral health consultation to all Presbyterian Hospitals. The Psychiatric Emergency Services team provides psychiatric screening assessments for Emergency Department patients in person and via telemedicine to 7 hospitals throughout NM. This includes but is not limited to risk assessment and referral for patientsof all agesto appropriate level of care, assessment to determine needfor dual diagnosis or admission to acute psychiatric inpatient care, or finding appropriate outpatient resources for safe discharge planning. Job duties include communication with all parties including ED provider and nursing staff, charge nurse, on-call psychiatrist, unit staff, collateral sources, registration department and insurance authorization personnel as needed to ensure patients are provided a timely, comprehensive assessment and a safe disposition. The work is performed in the Emergency Department and is a fast paced and dynamic environment that allows for clinical work with high acuity patients.

Dedicated to improving the health of our community, Behavioral Health at Presbyterian offers treatment for lasting recovery from substance abuse, behavioral health conditions and psychiatric emergencies. Our full-service program supports adults, children and adolescents, and includes inpatient services, a multidisciplinary outpatient clinic, emergency and consultative services and behavioral medicine services embedded in primary care.

Responsibilities:
Performs the psychotherapeutic process for each patient assigned, including assessment, diagnosis (when Masters prepared), planning care, intervention (including counseling patients/significant others in crisis, making referrals), and evaluation (including identifying unmet needs or new nursing for therapy or medical services).
