Special Procedure Technologist

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduate of approved school of Radiologic Technology.

License(s): State licensure may be required depending on the specific state of practice. If practicing in Arkansas, a Radiologic Technologist License is required.

Certification(s):

*ARRT registry. A RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) may be accepted in lieu of an ARRT if deemed appropriate by facility leadership.

*BLS

Preferred Qualifications

Experience: Two to three years' experience in Interventional Radiology or Cardiac Cath Lab.

Certification(s):
* ACLS Certified. One of the ARRT Advanced Vascular Interventional Registries.
* NIH Stroke Scale Certification.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities

Knowledge:
* Understanding of neurovascular, peripheral vascular, and interventional procedures.
* Knowledge of anatomical positioning and physiology to demonstrate appropriate structures.
* Familiarity with special procedures imaging equipment and radiation safety practices.
* Awareness of department standards and protocols for operating imaging networks.

Skills:
* Ability to position and immobilize patients.
* Skill in operating imaging equipment to produce optimal quality examinations.
* Competence in coordinating patient throughput and care flow.
* Proficiency in reviewing examination orders for accuracy and completeness.
* Skill in preparing exam rooms and assembling imaging records for interpretation.
