FUNCTION: Operate computer-controlled engraving, printing, laser-etching and 3D printing equipment to create labels, tags, nameplates and small parts to support manufacturing. Perform routine assembly work, component markings and assist in prototyping using additive manufacturing techniques. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate computer-controlled engraving, printing, and laser-etching equipment to create labels, nameplates, legend plates, and stainless tags according to drawings, or extracting from files in the computer. Mark parts with model/serial numbers. Track inventory of stock tags and other required materials. Sort tags for jobs that have multiple tags required.
- Perform a variety of small mechanical assembly operations to assemble all products manufactured in small assembly area. Products are standardized and/or methods prescribed. Uses a variety of assembly and test fixtures, hand and power tools; recognizes defective parts; does unit testing as directed.
- Work with Production Control and Supervisor to establish priorities.
- Create wire markers per Electrical Wire Drawing files. Maintain computer files and systems for wire markers/numbers, special labels, Material Safety Data Sheets labels, and cooler nameplates. Load new files as received, and print files on or before scheduled release date.
- Clean and maintain the laser engraver to help ensure high quality and long machine life.
- Operate FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) 3D printers to fabricate plastic components based on engineering drawings or digital files.
- Monitor print jobs and perform routine maintenance, adjustments, and troubleshooting of 3D printing equipment.
- Ensure dimensional accuracy and proper surface finish of printed components through pos-processing.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to iterate and improve print quality and part function.
- Keep detailed records of print settings, results and issues to support process improvement.
- Observe company safety rules.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Experience:
- One-year experience with the manufacturing of mechanical products.
- Experience using personal computers to create documents, labels, etc.
- Experience with FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) printers and basic additive manufacturing principles.
- Industrial or shop experience preferred, particularly in roles requiring mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting.
