Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Project Associate.
The Center for Healthcare Innovation & Delivery Science (CHIDS), in the Department of Population Health at NYU School of Medicine seeks a Project Associate (PA) to work in the Rapid RCT Lab. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills in applied health services research and evaluation, and will build experience relevant to roles in healthcare delivery, health services research, think tanks and health care consulting. This role is for the CHIDS Rapid RCT lab, a nationally-leading team conducting innovative, rapid RCTs to improve the delivery of services at the frontline both in NYU and increasingly in partnership with healthcare systems across the country.
Rapid RCT Lab summary
The Rapid RCT lab, led by Leora Horwitz, MD, MHS aims to transform NYU Langone into a learning healthcare system by using rapid cycle randomized controlled trials to test simple, pragmatic ideas. Already, we have learned that post-discharge telephone calls made no difference to rates of readmission; that our community health worker program was inadvertently targeting patients who were unlikely to benefit; and that changing the text of a tobacco cessation prompt can significantly increase prescriptions. Currently, we are working on projects that include: using LLMs to aid rapid decision making around kidney transplantation; testing whether a notification text to patients friends & family can improve discharge before noon rates; and seeing if using a bot to auto-pend an order will increase cirrhosis screening rates.
The PA would join the team at an exciting time, contributing to new strategies, innovative experiments, and transformative ideas that span our healthcare system. Additionally, they would collaborate with leading institutions nationwide through our partnership with CMMI, amplifying the impact of our work on a national scale.
The PAs role would be to support on project scoping and design; lead literature reviews and data management; support with results dissemination; undertake administrative tasks; and help to manage and coordinate the success of individual projects.
