Data Analyst- Cancer Genomics and Epigenomics
The MGH Center for Cancer Research is looking for a data analyst to study cancer genomics and epigenomics. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team working on rigorous analysis of next generation sequencing data (DNA, RNA, chromatin, single-cell omics) and other multi-omics datasets from tumor and normal samples. The ideal candidate has a strong computational background, actively seeks solutions to challenges and enjoys working in a small team-environment. Responsibilities: - Apply existing and novel algorithms to cancer data sets, critically review, analyze and visualize results. - Design, implement and develop analysis approaches, workflows and novel software tools for large multi-omics data sets (genomic, transcriptomic, epigenomic and proteomic data). - Contribute to quantitative molecular analysis pipelines under the supervision of staff or faculty, including: * Assisting with hypothesis generation and experimental design * Performing downstream data processing, quality control, and statistical analysis * Interpreting and visualizing results for internal and external presentations - Assist senior team members with curation, organization, and maintenance of large datasets and related metadata. - Support and train new users on analysis workflows and tools; help standardize best practices for multi-omic and proteomic data analysis. - Present results effectively to clinicians, experimental biologists, and computational scientists in lab meetings and collaborative discussions. Qualifications: - B.A./B.S/M.S. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biology, Biochemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field - Strong interest in cancer research; prior experience in this area is an advantage - Demonstrated independence, strong self-motivation, and ability to prioritize and organize work. - Excellent programming skills in Python or R (both preferred) - Familiarity with software engineering practices and algorithms, including version control (e.g., Git) and reproducible workflows. - Comfort using Word, Excel, Powerpoint or Google Docs to summarize and communicate results between team members - Strong written and verbal communication skills and fluency in English - Ability to work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams consisting of physicians, experimental scientists, statisticians and software engineers Education Experience The General Hospital Corporation is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
