Summary:
Using computerized tomography (CT) equipmentand standards, the CT Technologist prepares and performs procedures and tests used toacquireand analyze patient diagnostic data. By interviewing and preparing patients with in-depth understanding of the equipment and procedures, this role ensures effective, safe use of this equipment and drivesoptimalcare outcomes.

Responsibilities:


  • Conducts computerized tomography (CT) screening, ensuring both the safe function of equipment and pursuing the best quality imaging from the procedure.

  • Reads andcomprehendsimaging order, engaging with radiologist when order is unclear, complex orwarrantsdeeper review.

  • Gathers consent for contrast injection for applicable imaging orders. Establishes intravenous access and applies contrast. Under laboratory supervision,draws blood for kidney function evaluationusing glomerular filtration rate (GFR) analysis on point-of-care-testing hardware.

  • Interviews patients to understand risk factors and prior medical history components that maywarranta more in-depth examination for safety.

  • Selectsappropriate scanningprotocols and imaging parameters using extensive knowledge of human anatomy,pathologyand the capabilities/limitations of both hardware and specific imaging sequences.

  • Guides patients, some distressed, through their examination, applying subject matterexpertiseand cultural competency to explain the exam. Sets expectations and calmspatientfor effective imaging.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required


  • Graduate of an accredited program in Radiological Science

  • Registration as CT technologist from American RegistryOfRadiologic Technologists

  • Good understanding of human anatomy - can beestablishedthrough education or experience

  • Experience reading and interpreting complex radiology orders


Preferred


  • Experience using point-of-care-testing platforms such as Abbotti-Stat

  • Experience working with a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)
