Position Summary
The Division of Infectious Diseases at the UNC School of Medicine is recruiting for a Research Assistant Professor on the fixed term track. The position will be with the UNC Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases ( IGHID) and will be based in Malawi at UNC Project, Malawi as the Director of Sexually Transmitted Infections ( STI) Research and Clinical Services. This position will supervise and direct all academic STI activities provided at UNC Project, Malawi including all STI research, training and supervision of students from UNC and Malawi, and clinical services that includes all STI acute care, HIV, hepatitis and syphilis screening, HIV PREP services and gender-based violence service. This position will coordinate these activities in collaboration with faculty based at UNC-CH, including but not limited to research grant submissions and grants management, organizing clinical and research training activities and facilitating cost effective and evidence based clinical services supported by local implementation research efforts.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
MD degree with a PhD in Public Health with an emphasis on implementation science. Successful demonstration of directing research grants in Malawi with evidence of scholarly publications. Minimum of 5 years' experience providing STI clinical care and conducting STI and Implementation science research in Malawi. Language requirement: Fluent in Chichewa and English. Competent in Implementation science research methods. Based full time in Malawi.
