Summary
The Senior Fleet Technician will independently perform preventative maintenance (PM) and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components on a wide range of vehicles and equipment. This includes grounds maintenance machinery, earth-moving equipment, trailers, medium and heavy-duty trucks, and specialized equipment. The role requires minimal supervision and may involve servicing cars, vans, light trucks, construction equipment, and various shop or company tools as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on a variety of vehicles and equipment, including oil changes, lubrication, safety checks, and component adjustments to ensure reliability.
- Accurately log in/out of repair orders, enter job details into the system, and provide parts and labor information. Notify the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor of any irregularities.
- Change and repair tires on company vehicles and equipment, both in-shop and in the field.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the garage and workspaces.
- Diagnose, repair, or replace defective components; conduct test drives to confirm operational status.
- Operate and inspect various vehicles and equipment to ensure functionality and compliance with specifications.
- Handle company vehicles, tools, and equipment responsibly, following all safety protocols.
- Transport vehicles and equipment to and from commercial shops, job sites, and other company locations.
- Request and charge accurate parts to repair orders.
- Perform Missouri Motor Vehicle and Federal DOT inspections.
- Conduct major component repairs, including teardown, inspection, cleaning, reassembly, and adjustment.
- Respond to emergency service calls in the field as needed.
- Assist in training junior technicians.
- Maintain shop equipment and manage fleet asset commissioning and decommissioning.
- Complete tasks assigned by the Fleet Working Foreman or Fleet Maintenance Supervisor.
- Provide and maintain a personal set of basic hand tools for maintenance work.
Essential Characteristics
- The job requires an in-depth knowledge of the principles of both Unleaded & Diesel internal combustion engines, hydraulic systems, air systems, computer & electrical systems along with a detailed knowledge of their parts & operation gained from technical training and practical work experience

Supervisory Responsibilities
Required Education (certifications, licenses)
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- An associate degree in automotive or Diesel Technology from a hands-on accredited Institute preferred
- Possession of a State Inspectors License and DOT certification as required by the State & FMCSA or the ability to obtain one within a 1 year in the position and must remain certified
- Maintain proficiency in Qualification Review Standards
- Possession of a valid driver's license and able to obtain a Class "A" CDL with HAZMAT and Tanker endorsements within 1 year in the position
- Possession of Refrigerant Recovery Certification or the ability to obtain one within 1 year in the position
- Mechanical repair knowledge of a wide variety of vehicles and equipment
Required knowledge, skill and abilities
- Seven (7) years' hands-on experience with on-the-job training working in a repair facility
- Ability to lead and communicate in a team environment and display a positive attitude in a dynamic environment
- Ability to make decisions based within job description
- Ability to multitask effectively
- Ability to use a copy machine to scan various documents
- Activate emergency procedures effectively
- Read and interpret pertinent laws, codes and safety orders dealing with the handling of fuel and transportation of fuel(s) and hazardous materials
Physical demands, environment and schedule
- Job responsibilities require both inside and outside work to be performed, with possible exposure to adverse weather conditions
- This position may involve shift work - Shift is 3pm - 11pm. Training will occur on Dayshift (6:30am start)
- May come in to contact with oil, grease, and a variety of fluids and solvents
- Must be in physical shape to use hand & power tools, climb, bend, twist, stretch, swing necessary tooling, lift up to 50 lbs.
- Overtime may be requested
- The job is performed in accordance with company rules and policies
