Job Summary NATURE OF WORK
To blend and package, label and maintain intermediates and finished goods for the DPL line of freeze dried culture.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Performs mathematical calculations to determine appropriate blends. Including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages 2. Operates production equipment and tools such as blenders, metal detectors, labelers, autoclaves, computers, calculators, filling equipment, conveyors and cleaning equipment. 3. Accurately weighs and measures ingredients for blending and packaging. 4. Packages ingredients for shipping; pours ingredients into bottles, screws lid onto bottles, clean bottles, seals bottles, labels bottles clearly and counts bottles accurately. 5. Packages bottles for intermediate transport to shipping department. 6. Cleans, sanitizes, and sterilizes production equipment including: utensils, tools and equipment, and work area. 7. Collects and delivers samples for lab tests. 8. Maintains proper inventory of supplies for daily and weekly activities. 9. Maintains accurate written records or logs of all production processes. 10. Responsible for adherence to all quality systems including, ISO 9001, ISOFSSC 22000, DS cGMP certify and Food Safety with an understanding of IFF Quality Policy and procedures. 11. Compliance with all Company policies including, but not limited to: Quality, Safety, Food Safety, Environmental, GMP's, HAACP and Attendance. 12. Order replacement parts to maintain adequate supplies for production and operation. 13. Checks and maintains sanitation logs. 17. May be cross assigned to other departments, or shifts, within the Natural Extract plant, Culture plant or Freeze-dry Plant. 18. Other functions as required by management (non-essential functions).
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
A high school diploma or equivalent, a successful work history, the ability to work as a team player and the ability to perform accurate detailed work under tight deadlines is required. Also, the ability to perform the essential functions of the job in a safe manner is required. Must have the ability to screw on and off bottle caps constantly throughout a work shift, lift up to ten (10) pound canisters to pour culture into bottles, move barrels containing 55 lbs and to pour culture into bottles, and move boxes of supplies throughout the day. Must have the ability to detect problems with machinery, processes or systems and correct, report and document these issues. Must be able to train/use a computer to create production orders, input data and check inventories. Should be able to wear proper PPE and respirator as required while performing job duties and have the ability to work in a self directed manner, within a high performance team environment. Must be able to write legibly on a small surface area, add, subtract, multiply, and divide using decimals, percentages, and using algebraic equations. Must be able to read, comprehend and follow written procedures and instructions. WORK CONDITIONS
Work is performed in temperatures ranging from negative forty (-40) to eighty (80) degrees Fahrenheit. Conditions may be humid, dusty and cold requiring the use of personal protective equipment. Operator must use personal protective equipment as determined by environmental hygiene assessment survey. The work requires that employees be able to maintain a high level of personal hygiene, cleanliness, and safety; and be able to wear safety protection.
SCOPE OF POSITION
This position reports directly to the Production Supervisor and has no direct supervisory responsibility. The incumbent must work independently relying on oral and written instructions. Management reserves the right to add or change the duties of this position at any time.
