Position Summary

The Content Strategist plays a key role on the Advancement Team, helping to drive Aeon's reputation and support fundraising efforts. Working closely with the Advancement and Marketing teams, this role implements strategic marketing and communications to raise awareness of Aeon's mission and deepen engagement with key stakeholders - including, but not limited to, individual donors, corporate sponsors, and grant funders. As an organizational ambassador, the Content Strategist leverages content to enhance Aeon's visibility and donor relationships. This role also supports CRM data quality and its effective use in stakeholder engagement and outreach. The position reports to the Director of Advancement & Resident Connections.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Donor Communications Strategy (40%)



  • Manage segmented email marketing for donors, corporate sponsors, grant funders, and other stakeholders in collaboration with the Advancement team.
  • Lead fundraising campaigns, including storytelling, content development, and copywriting for print and digital appeals.
  • Produce supporting social media content to amplify campaign reach.
  • Increase donor engagement through experimentation with email formats, messaging, and creative approaches.
  • Strengthen cross-channel communications through strong writing, visual design, and video editing.
  • Oversee CRM (Salesforce) integration with MailChimp and other tools to support seamless donor outreach.
  • Maintain and analyze audience segments and manage donor mailing lists for targeted print and email communications.


Digital Communications (35%)



  • Develop and execute a strategic marketing and communications plan with Advancement and Marketing leadership to grow awareness and donor support.
  • Lead all digital fundraising communications, including email, social media, website content, newsletters, and the annual report.
  • Manage donor-facing web content (WordPress) and digital platform integrations (MailChimp, Classy, website).
  • Use analytics to track engagement, optimize performance, and guide strategic decisions.
  • Recommend and manage digital ad campaigns (Google Ads, Meta Ads, etc.).
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Advancement leadership to strengthen SEO and drive digital donor engagement.


Graphic Design & Events (25%)



  • Design engaging print and digital materials using Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
  • Translate data, grant outcomes, and resident stories into compelling visual assets that support fundraising and awareness goals.
  • Partner with the Director of Advancement & Resident Connections to manage audiovisual needs and collateral for donor events throughout the year.



Skills & Qualifications



  • 2-3 years of previous experience in marketing or communications.
  • Strong ability to work both independently, as the Advancement lead for communications strategy and execution, and collaboratively, with Aeon's overall brand marketing team.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft products, particularly Sharepoint, Word, PowerPoint is required.
  • Proficient use of graphic design software is required, and ideally experience using Adobe InDesign for print and digital design.
  • Experience with web design software - ideally WordPress and basic understanding of HTML/CSS is a plus.
  • Ability to understand intersection of marketing, communications and fundraising as sweet spot to extend and express Aeon's brand and attract resources.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Understanding of changing technologies, and ability to successfully utilize digital and other channels in integrated marketing, communication, and fundraising strategies.
  • Proven ability to engage with diverse communities in a way that is responsive to individual and collective needs and expectations.
  • Results-driven style, personal accountability, and excellent time management skills.
  • Must have a commitment to learning and participating in Aeon's diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
  • Must be resourceful, problem solving, relationship-building, seeker of excellence.
  • Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to lift up to 10lbs.
    • Ability to reach above and below the shoulders.
    • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to file, open and close file drawers, and enter data into a computer for extended periods of time.





Compensation, Hours & Location

This position has a range of pay between $27-$35 per hour depending on qualifications and skillset. Aeon offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, retirement plan, generous paid time off and an employee assistance program.

This full-time position offers mostly Monday-Friday, daytime hours. Typical work schedules are 8:30am-5pm, but there is some flexibility in these hours to accommodate the needs of the position and the staff person. Variations to this schedule may occur given the needs of the position.

This is a hybrid position and will office out of Aeon's Central Office in the North Loop of Minneapolis with regular on-site visits to Aeon's properties throughout the Twin Cities. Most weeks this position will be in-person on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This position may office remotely from time to time. When working remotely, the candidate is required to travel to and from Aeon properties for urgent or unplanned matters and for regularly planned on-site visits, trainings, and meetings. As such, candidates must either currently reside in and around the Twin Cities metro area, or plan to relocate to accommodate regular planned and unplanned on-site needs.
