What You Will Do:
Assist others in analyzing information and data to perform traffic and design tasks. This includes design alternative analysis, engineering studies, small to large-scale traffic analyses, safety studies, travel demand modeling, and the design and preparation of plans and specifications for signing, pavement markings, lighting, traffic signals, maintenance of traffic, and intelligent transportation system projects. Receive instructions from Project Manager or Senior Project Engineers as to the general results expected. Gather and analyze field data, research traffic and design options and document findings for Senior Project Engineer. Maintain project database by writing and researching code requirements, and entering and backing up data. Keep Senior Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project schedule or scope or additional services. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies. Assist or participate in preparation of business proposals. Attend Project Manager training to begin to develop project management skills. Perform data analysis of collected traffic data for traffic impact studies and other similar projects. Perform quantity calculations and prepare cost estimates for proposed projects. No hire/fire authority. Education | Experience:Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university. Must have experience with transportation engineering, including traffic reports, roadway design, earthwork quantity calculations, drainage design, utility coordination, signing, pavement marking, and signals. Must have experience working with MicroStation V8i, OpenRoads Designer, Synchro, VISSIM, and SIDRA. Must have experience with transportation engineering standards including the MUTCD, HSM, ITE Trip Generation Handbook, and HCS. Must have experience working with intelligent transportation systems. Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint). Local travel required less than 5%. Telecommuting is permissible up to 2 days per week within reasonable commuting distance from the Kansas City, MO Office.
Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $69,100 - $101,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
