Overview Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting combined inpatient & outpatient opportunity for an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support our office located in Virginia Beach. *Please take this quick survey once you've submitted your resume to complete the application process: APP PI Survey If you have completed the survey before, even for another position, please do not take it again Responsibilities Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for oncology patients in an outpatient and inpatient setting Initiate and documentappropriate interventions Evaluate and record patient and family response within practice protocol Prescribes drug therapies per protocol/physician consultation Assess patient and family needs and provides education Promotes/provides staff education Serve as a liaison between inpatient, skilled nursing, and home setting Incorporates evidence-based research into clinical practice Round on patients Qualifications** Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program for nursing education and successful completion of an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program or successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program Two years of post Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant hematology/oncology experience is preferred Acute Care Nurse Practitioner experience is required Experience and knowledge in the management of the physiological and psychological effects of cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment RN State License and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state, along with current state certification of Nurse Practitioner or current state license as a Physician Assistant Current CPR certification required Must be willing to travel to thevarious practice locations PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
