Job Summary:

Postdoctoral position in the Laimins laboratory to study the pathogenesis of high-risk human papillomaviruses and their effects on the DNA damage repair pathways. The laboratory uses tissue culture model systems to examine how HPV proteins activate DN repair pathways along with induction of R-loops and suppression of m6A modified RNAs. Additions areas of study include effects of topoisomerases and APOBEC proteins on HPV life cycle.

Please note: Occasional weekends and evenings as requested and with some possible travel, as required.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Project implementation. Performing molecular biology analyses
  • Reporting to advisor and presenting lab meetings
  • Writing manuscripts
  • Performing cell culture and maintaining stocks
  • Overseeing rotating students

Miscellaneous

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in molecular biology or infectious disease. Experience in cell culture, western, RT-PCR, RNA analyses and imaging.

Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)

  • English: spoken and written. Ability to perform molecular biology studies and to not require daily oversight of project and its directions. Able to give talks to lab on their work and to develop new directions for study.
