Overview

This position is contingent upon the successful award of a contract currently under bid.

Goldbelt Integrated Logistics Services (GbILS) provides four specific areas of expertise-Logistics Engineering, Measurement Sciences, Program Management, and Technical Support-serving the scientific, technical, and engineering needs of clients. GbILS values its innovative thinking and service-oriented team who provide services for a variety of federal government and commercial clients.

Summary:

Performs Metrology Engineer duties as needed in support of contract SOW. Proficient in the use of corporate tools and assets and able to train others in their use. Interacts with corporate staff, customers, subcontractors, and other personnel as needed. Reports directly to the contract Program Manager.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Preparing a variety of metrology directives, including Instrument Calibration Procedures (ICP), Metrology
  • Drafting Engineering Reports, Quality Manuals, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Conducting engineering investigations/evaluations, calculations, and preparing final designs of measurement systems
  • Communicating and coordinating with local personnel, commercial calibration labs, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to maintain and improve calibration lab capabilities
  • Providing metrology technical advice, engineering services and calibration
  • Developing computer programs to automate calibration calculations and
  • Documenting computer hardware and software configurations in accordance with ANSI/ISO/IEC 17025:2005
  • Documenting uncertainty budgets to properly account for calibration and testing error

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the Navy Metrology and Calibration (METCAL) Program and ANSI/ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education - A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physical science
  • Technical Experience: Two (2) years of work-related experience demonstrating a technical understanding of the work identified in the SOW. (A GPA of 3.0 or higher may be substituted for one year of experience.)
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
