Position Summary
MaineHealth is seeking a Nursing Unit Secretary to support our P2C Unit, an 18-bed medical telemetry inpatient unit. In this essential role, you will serve as the central communication hub for the unit-supporting clinical staff, greeting visitors, coordinating information flow, and helping ensure the unit operates smoothly and efficiently.

Schedule

  • Four 8-hour shifts per week

  • Shift hours: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

  • Days: Variable

  • Rotating self-scheduling system

  • Weekend requirement: 8 weekend shifts (Saturdays and/or Sundays) every 8-week schedule period

  • On-site position; no remote flexibility

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the first point of contact for patients, families, and visitors on the unit

  • Answer phones, manage communication, and assist with coordination of care

  • Perform clerical duties such as chart management, order entry, and maintaining patient records

  • Collaborate with nurses and clinical staff to support efficient patient flow

  • Maintain a welcoming, organized, and professional work environment

  • Transporter duties

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: Current BLS certification preferred or may be required based on location.
  3. Experience: One year of hospital or health care setting preferred.
