DESCRIPTION

Under the direct supervision of a registered nurse in the assigned department, performs a wide variety of patient care activities in support of clinic activity. This includes prioritizing and assisting in patient triage processing, preparation and assistance with patient examinations, administering medications, drawing blood, collecting and preparing laboratory tests, patient education and venipuncture and IV access. Position requires initiative, able to prioritize critical demands and the ability to work in a team environment. Other related duties as assigned.

LVN to be responsible for all aspects of return to work status and updates for employees related to COVID-19 exposures and infection of COVID-19. Duties to include assisting with reviewing COVID-19 results, assisting RN with COVID-19 follow ups on employee symptoms calls, answering calls, scheduling follow ups, assisting with return to work and emailing work statuses, answering general questions regarding return to work guidelines, managing workques in EPIC/in-boxes for return to work, end of shift reports, assisting RN with call backs. Documentation for return to work status would be essential to provide daily reports to COEM/EOC department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) - issued by the state of California.
  • Certification in Intravenous Therapy issued by the state of California (LVN IV).
  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
  • A minimum of two (2) years previous LVN experience in direct patient care.
  • Demonstrated recent experience in a similar role and setting.
  • Skills in accurately taking and recording vital signs, height and weight; administering medication including injections; interviewing patients; and collecting specimens.
  • Must possess the skills, knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the patient flow process in order to efficiently monitor appointments, patients and available physicians.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • EPIC
  • Occupational Health experience.
  • Experience with return to work program.
  • Ambulatory experience.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and/or process improvement.
  • Point of Care testing experience.
  • Bilingual: English/Spanish.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the patient flow process in order to efficiently monitor appointments, patients and available physicians.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $74,980 - $93,229 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $35.91 - $44.65

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
