The overall goals of the Center for Applied Aquatic Ecology (
CAAE) are to provide water quality information to optimize management of water resources, and to provide opportunities for students and teachers through education/outreach programs. Our work requires various facilities and equipment, such as a state-certified water quality analytical laboratory and real-time remote monitoring field instrumentation. High-quality data from the
CAAE contribute to the State environmental agency's water quality database, and to
NCSU students' research projects.
CAAE water quality monitoring/research programs help safeguard potable source-water reservoirs depended upon by approximately 750,000 North Carolinians.
CAAE programs also track water quality in selected estuaries and marine coastal areas.
The Research Technician will perform a full range of water quality analysis in the CAAE's state-certified laboratory using sophisticated instrumentation and analytical techniques in compliance with established protocols and quality assurance/quality control procedures. This staff person will conduct and/or assist in specialized research procedures and tests; perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment; and order supplies as needed. This staff person will also assist in the center's education outreach programs, hosting groups visiting the lab for tours and participating in various laboratory and field activities. |
