About this role
The Director of Business Development will lead the development and execution of strategies that drive revenue growth, expand market share, and deliver a superior customer experience across the industrial automation market. This role requires deep knowledge of automation technologies combined with strong leadership and the ability to manage complex relationships with OEMs, integrators, and distribution partners. What You'll Do:
- Develop and execute business development strategies that strengthen the company's position as a leading channel partner in industrial automation, driving revenue growth across key verticals such as robotics, packaging, life sciences, and advanced manufacturing.
- Forge and expand strategic supplier partnerships with leading automation technology manufacturers to ensure access to best-in-class products, programs, and joint go-to-market opportunities.
- Collaborate with supplier partners on co-marketing initiatives, training, and technical support programs to enhance mutual growth and customer success.
- Identify and pursue new market segments by leveraging supplier innovation pipelines and aligning them with customer automation needs and emerging technologies.
- Lead and mentor sales and business development teams to execute supplier-aligned growth plans and achieve or exceed revenue and profitability targets.
- Work closely with marketing and supplier teams to develop campaigns, product launches, and events that highlight the company's differentiated value proposition and solution expertise.
- Oversee the sales lifecycle, ensuring seamless coordination between inside and outside sales, supplier representatives, and engineering resources.
- Drive the aftermarket and lifecycle services strategy, including field support, upgrades, retrofit programs, and spare parts sales, to create long-term customer and supplier loyalty.
What You'll Need:
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in business development or sales within the industrial automation industry, ideally with a focus on supplier and channel partnership management.
- Strong network and familiarity with major automation brands and their distribution programs.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related technical discipline required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Strong technical acumen with automation products and systems integration, and the ability to translate technical solutions into customer value.
- Proven success leading teams and scaling market presence in high-technology B2B environments.
- Exceptional strategic planning and execution skills, with the ability to balance long-term vision with hands- on tactical results.
- Willingness to travel frequently to customer sites, trade shows, and key industry events across North America.
