Program Director - Pharmaceutical Development & Clinical Supply Operations


On-site | Kansas City, MO



MRIGlobal is seeking a PhD-level Program Director to lead complex pharmaceutical development and clinical supply programs supporting early-phase research. This on-site role blends scientific depth with strategic program execution, overseeing CMC development, analytical testing, stability studies, and investigational material distribution.



Role Overview


In this position, you will direct multidisciplinary teams responsible for drug substance/drug product development, analytical characterization, and repository operations. You will ensure scientific integrity, operational excellence, and compliance with quality and regulatory expectations while coordinating internal staff and external subcontractors.



Key Responsibilities



Scientific & Technical Leadership



  • Lead programs involving manufacturing, formulation, analytical testing, stability studies, and material release.
  • Evaluate technical data and documentation to ensure scientific defensibility and quality.
  • Identify and mitigate risks impacting CMC execution or supply-chain continuity.



Repository & Supply Chain Operations



  • Oversee acquisition, inventory management, controlled storage, and distribution of investigational agents.
  • Ensure documentation accuracy, chain-of-custody integrity, and cGMP-aligned practices.
  • Manage internal and external analytical and stability testing activities.



Program Execution & Stakeholder Collaboration



  • Establish project plans, budgets, timelines, and deliverables; monitor progress and drive accountability.
  • Coordinate multidiscipline teams and subcontractors to ensure integrated and timely program execution.
  • Act as the primary scientific point of contact, providing clear updates and recommendations.



Leadership & Mentoring



  • Guide teams through complex scientific and operational decision-making.
  • Promote a culture of quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement.



Qualifications



Required



  • PhD in a scientific field (Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or related discipline).
  • 7+ years of experience in pharmaceutical development, CMC operations, analytical chemistry, or related areas.
  • Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary scientific programs.
  • Strong knowledge of cGMP, analytical methods, stability testing, and clinical supply-chain workflows.
  • Excellent communication and technical judgment.
  • Must work on-site in Kansas City, MO.



Preferred



  • Experience contributing to CMC regulatory submissions.
  • Background in investigational agent repositories or clinical supply management.
  • Experience in government-funded or contract research environments.

Pay Range $128,000 - $141,000


The salary range is intended as a general guideline and is not a guaranteed offer, as compensation depends on various factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate qualifications, experience, internal equity, and market conditions.
