What to Expect
Tesla is looking for a highly motivated Controls Engineering Technician, with excellent electrical and PLC troubleshooting skills,to contribute to commissioning and maintaining automation equipment for our advanced manufacturing lines. These highly automated assembly lines consist of several pieces of equipment, each PLC-controlled.Tesla Motors is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work on critical systems of incredibly exciting products.

What You'll Do
  • The Controls Engineering Technician will work alongside the Controls Engineering team to program, troubleshoot and maintain controls components such as PLCs, HMIs, and robots
  • Evidence of exceptional ability and able to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities
  • Comfortable with equipment using internal or 3rd party software, able to decipher logs and troubleshoot
  • Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment
  • Availability off-hours and weekend as needed

What You'll Bring
  • Proficient in PLC programming languages such as ladder logic and structured text using Siemens TIA Portal and Allen Bradley Studio
  • Experience with designing and/or reading electrical schematics, including designing and wiring electrical control panels; Familiarity with EPLAN highly desired
  • Skilled at design and troubleshooting of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Knowledge of pick and place systems, conveyors, AGV's, robotics, machine vision systems; Experience programming, maintaining, and solving technical issues with Fanuc robots preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a high volume manufacturing/industrial environment
  • Ability to command the english language, both written and verbal

    Expected Compensation
    • Automation Controls Technician I - $28.80 - $33.52/hour
    • Automation Controls Technician II - $34.63 - $38.28/hour
    • Automation Controls Technician III - $37.38 - $43.44/hour
    + cash and stock awards + benefits for all levels

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
