How You'll Help Transform Healthcare:The Exercise Physiologist Intern supports the Wellness Center team by assisting with fitness programming, member engagement, and day-to-day operations. This role provides hands-on experience in exercise testing, program design, and safe exercise instruction while upholding the center's standards for customer service and professional conduct. Interns work closely with staff to learn practical skills, support a positive member experience, and contribute to the overall wellness environment.
  • Assist in conducting fitness assessments, health screenings, and basic measurements.
  • Support intake processes, including learning documentation requirements and observing consultations.
  • Practice interpreting health histories, assessments, and screening data to inform safe exercise programming.
  • Help design, modify, and implement exercise programs under supervision.
  • Shadow and support specialty clinics, group sessions, and one-on-one client interactions.
  • Learn and apply proper techniques for instructing exercise, cueing, and adjusting intensity.
  • Participate in mock client scenarios to develop assessment, programming, and coaching skills.
  • Assist with general facility operations, member engagement, and administrative tasks as needed.
  • Deliver short educational presentations and contribute to wellness education efforts.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, communication, and adherence to safety protocols at all times

  • Interacts with individuals at all levels of the organization as necessary, using whatever communication means are needed (e.g. e-mail, phone calls, face to face meetings).

  • Manages data and information, and prepares reports and/or project summaries.

  • Serves and participates on work teams as assigned. Actively participates in staff and committee meetings as assigned. Completes a project designed to benefit the healthcare system.

  • Exercises technical abilities with respective software to support project and/or operational tasks.

  • Proactively seeks out duties and responsibilities and appropriately prioritizes assignments.

  • Meets with Manager/Mentor on a regular basis to discuss completed items, projects in progress and potential projects


What We Require:

Education: Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent 8 years experience required.

Experience: Experience utilizing Energy Star Portfolio Manager preferred.

Experience with food waste reduction and/or donation programs preferred.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Proficient computer and keyboard skills. Must be able to solve simple mathematical and logistical problems in the work environment. Must be able to work efficiently, manage time wisely, and follow policy and procedures with minimal supervision. Must have good interpersonal, communication, and listening skills.
