3D Systems Healthcare and the Seattle VA Medical Center are seeking a talented Intermediate Additive Manufacturing Technician to create cutting-edge 3D printed medical devices for our nation's heroes. This role requires exceptional knowledge in digital design and advanced manufacturing. You'll participate in the digital design and fabrication of medical devices, including dental, orthotics, prosthetics, and radiation oncology devices. This position requires Monday through Friday on-site attendance at the Seattle VA Medical Center in Seattle, WA

What You Will Do

  • Design and produce a variety of medical devices using CAD/CAM technology
  • Operate advanced manufacturing technologies, including 3D scanners, 3D printers, and CNCs
  • Operate within an ISO 13485 / Part 820 compliant Quality Management System
  • Within our dental portfolio, you will fabricate custom trays, nightguards, surgical guides, dentures, crowns and bridges
  • Within our O&P portfolio, you will fabricate insoles and below-the-knee prosthetic sockets
  • Within our radiation-oncology portfolio, you will fabricate patient-specific radiotherapy boluses
  • For any application, you will be involved in the post-processing, finishing, and packaging of each product
  • Maintain equipment, manage laboratory supplies, and follow all VA protocols for HIPAA compliance and safety standards
  • Track case deadlines and maintain effective communication with dentists and dental team members via digital management systems (Teams) at the Seattle VA Medical Center (no remote/hybrid options available)
Qualifications

What You Will Bring

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree preferred

Demonstrated Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience using CAD/CAM or 3D modeling software used by medical device manufacturers and, preferably, used for the design of patient-specific devices (e.g. 3Shape, exocad, RealGuide, Radii, Freeform, Magics, 3Matic, Fusion 360, Solidworks, etc.)
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience using 3D printing technology (e.g. SLA, DLP, SLS, FDM, DMP)
  • Demonstrated intermediate-level expertise in the post-processing of 3D printed products
  • Demonstrated intermediate-level expertise in handling complex products or devices, preferably medical devices
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment or lab environment with varying levels of controls

Proven Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated expertise following established protocols and standard operating procedures
  • Demonstrated experience working in multidisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated experience operating ancillary manufacturing or laboratory equipment used for post-processing, finishing or inspection of finished goods
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical issues and implement solutions during the fabrication process
  • This position serves the X_Labs innovations team part of the Seattle VA Medical Center, which includes the need to work on export-controlled products from the Federal Government

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in the manufacturing of medical devices, dental devices, orthotics and prosthetics
  • Experience in the design of medical devices, dental devices, orthotics and prosthetics
  • Certifications relevant to the candidate's proficiency in the operation of relevant CAD/CAM software
  • Certifications relevant to the candidate's proficiency in the operation of relevant 3D printing technologies
  • Certifications or licensing relevant to the candidate's clinical knowledge in the design of medical devices as part of a clinical practice, hospital or lab (e.g. CDT, CPO)
