Overview

Are you passionate about delivering high-performance building enclosures that support energy efficiency, sustainability, and occupant comfort? Are you looking for a meaningful role where your technical skills in Building Enclosure Commissioning (BECx) make a measurable impact?

MBP is seeking a Building Enclosure Commissioning Specialist to support our expanding portfolio of BECx projects from early design through construction and into the warranty phase. We have already built a strong foundation with committed clients and a steady pipeline of opportunities, and now we're looking for a detail-oriented professional who excels at delivering high-quality work, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and solving problems in the field.

If you have three to ten years of experience in the design, analysis, or commissioning of commercial building enclosure systems and are looking to focus on meaningful technical execution on projects of significance, we want to hear from you. This role offers a rewarding long-term career with the option to grow into future leadership roles.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

As a Building Enclosure Commissioning Specialist at MBP, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality enclosure commissioning services that improve building performance, reduce lifecycle costs, and support long-term durability for our clients' facilities. You will work closely with owners, architects, contractors, and our internal commissioning teams to execute project-specific BECx activities in alignment with industry best practices.

Your responsibilities will include:

Conducting reviews of drawings, specifications, and submittals to verify enclosure performance criteria are met.
  • Developing project-specific BECx Plans and specifications.
  • Performing site observations during construction to assess installation quality and documenting findings clearly and professionally, providing practical recommendations, and verifying corrective actions in the field.
  • Coordinating and witnessing enclosure performance testing, such as air barrier testing, water infiltration testing, and thermal assessments.
  • Supporting post-occupancy and warranty-phase evaluations to confirm long-term enclosure performance and client satisfaction.
  • Collaborating with MBP project managers and best practice teams to continuously improve MBP's standards of quality, communication, and client service.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, values technical rigor, and thrives in a collaborative environment where their expertise directly contributes to project success.

Qualifications

Who We Are Looking For:

  • Building Enclosure Knowledge: Solid understanding of the design, performance, and installation criteria for key enclosure systems-including air barriers, vapor retarders, thermal insulation, fenestration systems, waterproofing, cladding assemblies, and roofing systems.
  • Field Observation & Documentation: Experience performing construction-phase BECx services or Construction Administration, including progressive envelope installation observations, detailed issue documentation, and collaboration with the project team to develop and verify corrective actions.
  • Design Review Skills: Ability to review architectural drawings, details, and specifications to identify potential enclosure risks, inconsistencies, or performance concerns.
  • Testing Coordination: Familiarity with enclosure performance testing methods (air leakage, water penetration, adhesion testing, infrared thermography, etc.) and experience coordinating or witnessing these tests.
  • Code & Standard Awareness: Working knowledge of building science principles, relevant codes, and standards such as LEED v4, ASTM, AAMA, ABAA, and ASHRAE guidelines related to building enclosure performance.
  • Communication: Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with owners, designers, contractors, and MBP team members. Excellent written communication skills to prepare clear, concise, and technically accurate documentation.
  • Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to assess field conditions, identify root causes of enclosure issues, and provide practical, technically sound recommendations.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate documentation, and support BECx activities at various project stages.
  • Professional Credentials: Licensed Architect, Engineer, or certifications such as BECxP, CxA+BE, ABAA CABS, or RRO/RRC preferred (not required; MBP will support future credential attainment).
