| Position Highlights |
The School of Plant Sciences is looking for a Research Technician III to be a part of Dr. Betsy Arnold's Lab. The Research Technician III will coordinate, initiate, collect data, analyze, write reports and summaries of laboratory and greenhouse studies of plant-microbe interactions, focusing on bacterial and fungal interactions with plants of economic importance.
This is an Extended Temporary Employment (ETE) position. | Duties & Responsibilities |
- Greenhouse experiments to evaluate plant-microbe interactions, including planning, ordering, planting, maintaining, measuring, and analyzing outcomes of inoculation trials.
- DNA sequencing, including related molecular methods, to identify fungi and bacteria associated with plants, including basic data quality-control and interpretation.
- Vouchering and growing plant-associated microbes, including fungi and bacteria, for research trials.
- Preparing reports, summaries, presentations of key results, and communicating results and methods with lab members and stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Knowledge of best practices in plant cultivation for research.
- Skills in sterile technique and basic molecular and traditional microbiology.
- Abilities to plan, accomplish goals, and work with volunteers and undergraduate trainees.

| Minimum Qualifications |
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience in research methods relevant to plant-microbe interactions.
- Experience in data analysis and quality control.
- BS in plant science, microbiology, sustainable plant systems, or similar.
