Clinical Lab Scientist Specialist CLINICAL LAB Full Time 87062BR Job Summary The Clinical Scientist Specialist oversees workflow of the lab to ensure turn-around times are met; Troubleshoots or investigates problems with malfunctioning analyzers and procedures; Aids in the development of new procedures or modify existing procedures under the direction of a project leader; Performs lab compliance procedures including calibration and calibration verification of assays; Establish and maintain QC materials and data; Assists in training of Clinical Laboratory Scientists, Clinical Laboratory Scientist trainees, limited license trainees, Hospital Laboratory Technicians, residents, and fellows; Works as a bench CLS as needed. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $72.24 - $90.01 (Hourly Rate). To learn more about the benefits of working at UCSF, including total compensation, please visit: https://ucnet.universityofcalifornia.edu/compensation-and-benefits/index.html Required Qualifications Demonstrated superior theoretical knowledge, technical judgment and skills and the ability to work with a minimum of supervision Assumes responsibilities for keeping abreast of technical developments through current literature review As requested by a Microbiology Supervisor, evaluates new procedures and makes recommendations Bachelor of Science degree Two years of recent experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in a microbiology lab Preferred Qualifications Prefer five years of Microbiology experience, to include, but not exclusive of, experience in: High volume hospital clinical laboratory Current automated equipment/methods in the area of specialty Development of new assays Writing SOPs Teaching, including orientation and training of employee Word processing, spreadsheet and database applications License/Certification California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license, California Clinical Microbiologist Scientist license, or California Public Health Microbiologist Certification About UCSF At UCSF Health, our mission of innovative patient care, advanced technology and pioneering research is redefining what's possible for the patients we serve - a promise we share with the professionals who make up our team.
