Overview
The Garfield County Office of Utah State University Extension seeks a qualified individual to coordinate the 4-H After-school program located in Escalante, Utah. The position will provide overall program leadership to after-school club instructors. The Site Coordinator will work to find and maintain community and school partnerships to benefit the sites in both education and family services. They will manage the site's staff hours and scheduling, lessons, complete attendance, and grant reports. This position will also build community partnerships. This is a part-time Site Coordinator position.

Weekly operating hours:

Monday-Thursday 3:20pm-6:00pm

Friday 7:45am-12:15pm

Additional hours as needed for prep and training.

Responsibilities
  • Manage data collection related to participants and submit quarterly reports
  • Communicate regularly with the USU Extension Faculty and other afterschool staff as to the progress and needs of the program
  • Build a network of partnerships with local/state organizations and agencies, augmenting the overall program's offerings and sustainability
  • Serve as an advocate for the youth and their families in the program
  • Serve as an ambassador for the program
  • Support the civil rights mandate of Utah State University Extension
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High degree of self-motivation
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written skills
  • Experience in recruiting, supervising, and working with other adults
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Basic computer skills- Word, Excel and Internet
  • Experience working and/or desire to work with youth and their families
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Must be available for all hours of program operation

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with after-school programs
  • Management and leadership experience
  • Evidence of teamwork capabilities
  • Experience navigating grant finances and expectations
  • Skills in social media and other forms of marketing
  • 4-H experience

The environment and physical requirements may change depending on the specific function of the work each department performs. Incumbents may be in both indoor and outdoor environments. Indoors, in an office space, event space, or public space, are protected from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes. Incumbents may nearly continuously sit and often use repetitive hand motion (such as typing).

Outdoors, incumbents may not be protected from weather conditions and may be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold. Bending, crawling, and crouching may be required. Incumbents may be required to lift, push, and/or pull objects up to 50 pounds and be required to walk and/or stand for long periods of time.

This position requires moderate physical effort. Employees must adhere to safety precautions and may be required to use protective equipment.
