Position Summary

This position will work with the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) Campus Grant, supporting the work of the grant to organize and schedule meetings of a student group focused on building consent culture and preventing gender-based violence on campus. This position will support creating programming, educational materials, social media content for the reduction of sexual assault, domestic and dating violence, and stalking on UNM's campus. The student employee will be building community with both departmental, on-campus units, as well community organizations. Supported by our CCRT and Project Director, the student employee will synthesize data, create and deliver presentations and execute other clerical and programmatic duties as necessary. This position has potential for multi-semester/long-term employment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creating programming and materials about sexual violence to be distributed though various media platforms
  • Collaborate with OVW Grant Coordinator and CCRT team to create and lead trainings and events for student groups/classes
  • Plan and facilitate meetings for the student group SPACE: Student Prevention & Advocacy for Consent Education
  • And, other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Willingness to utilize a peer-to-peer education model for delivering educational talks about consent and gender-based violence prevention
  • Strong interest in social media
  • Proofreading and editing skills
  • Photography, film, and/or graphic design skills/interest
  • Skilled in computer graphics and layout/design software
  • Have basic knowledge of university settings, policies, programs, and services
  • Contribute to the maintenance of a supportive office environment
