Job Summary

The Senior Applications Business Analyst serves as a technical and functional expert, responsible for developing specifications and requirements for PeopleSoft budget modules, financial applications, and budgeting and reporting tools. This role acts as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, managing system processes and supporting data warehousing efforts and financial operations through a robust data infrastructure and tools.

  • Develops technical specifications and functional requirements for financial systems, applications, and budget and reporting tools.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves system issues; implements new system functionalities and conducts functional testing and documentation to ensure optimal performance and compliance with federal, state, local laws, regulations and university policies and regulations.
  • Maintains functionality, settings, and data loads for the budget tools.
  • Supports the full system development lifecycle including requirements, configuration, QA, deployment, and post-implementation support.
  • Utilizes Microsoft SQL Server to manage and query complex datasets from the university's financial data warehouse.
  • Creates and optimizes complex SQL queries for ad hoc reporting, dashboards, and analytics.
  • Serves as the technical liaison with IT and business teams to integrate data seamlessly across multiple sources, streamline processes, and deliver technology-enabled financial solutions.
  • Maintains data integrity and security across budget and reporting systems, supporting data governance and compliance with federal, state, and industry regulations.
  • Develops training materials, delivers user instruction on new and existing financial systems and tools.
  • Gathers, analyzes, and documents requirements for financial systems and tools, processes, and business rules for technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Supports internal controls, financial reporting processes, and fiscal year-end close.
  • Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, public health emergencies, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience in related field.



Desired Qualifications
  • Master's degree in related discipline.
  • Advanced SQL skills and experience using Microsoft SQL Server for data extraction and manipulation.
  • Experience with data warehousing concepts and architecture.
  • Direct experience with PeopleSoft Financials or similar large-scale ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems.
  • Project management experience, particularly with software implementation or system upgrade projects.
  • Understanding budgeting, forecasting, fund accounting, and financial reporting principles.
