Position Summary

The Manager- SPD Regional Educator plays a critical role in developing the SPD training program and training for Sterile Processing Department (SPD) across regions. They ensure the SPD team adherence to industry standards and regulatory guidelines. This position supports training and development initiatives, focusing on both initial and ongoing education to maintain compliance and enhance staff competencies.

This role will work closely with SPD leadership and The Center for Clinical Practice and Professional Development to design, develop, and implement educational performance improvement strategies based on data driven performance gaps.

Essential Functions

  • Develop custom MultiCare SOPs, Standard Works and Competencies and ensure they remain up to date with the most current best practices, regulatory standards, and manufacture's IFU, if applicable.

  • Develop, manage, and maintain the SPD apprenticeship program.

  • Train/Educate and onboard SPD Trainees in a 20-week cohort progam.

  • Ensure risk analyst are completed and approved, or a manufacture's clarification is on file for all processes where best practices, regulatory standards, and manufacture's IFU and vague or non-existent.

  • Build, evaluate and update onboarding training, CEU training opportunities, new product training, quality improvement in-service training and annual competencies in partnership with system education departments.

  • Collaborates with Risk and Infection Control to ensure new protocols are implemented timely and assure quality standards are maintained.

  • Maintain up-to-date training records and ensure all employee certifications and competency levels are accurately documented.

  • Provide re-education and targeted training in response to performance issues, including those identified in operating room and instrument tray audits.

  • Lead the SPD Educator team.

  • Interim management coverage, as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of Sterile Processing required; 5 years of experience mentoring and providing education or training in a professional setting preferred.

  • Three years of experience in a supervisor capacity

  • Certifications: CRCST (HSPA) or CSPDT (CBSPD) required upon hire.

  • Additional certifications (CER or CFER) required within 1 year after hire.

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $100,547.00 - $144,685.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
